Been A While...

It's been quite awhile since my last post. Things got busy with school and chasing after my toddler. We are currently transitioning into using all natural products throughout the house. And since I was last on, we started cloth diapering my son and after buying a few I didn't like we found a great system for us! We are using Grovia shells and soakers, they are very trim and work great! I love cloth diapering my son, and we save a lot of money. I am just getting into using natural products and I already love it. I am also making all homemade Christmas presents, and love learning how to sew and do crafts! I can't wait to share my journeys!!

Adam's birthday!

So I tested out my fun-fetti cupcakes with the small round sprinkles, don't use those! The color instantly comes off them and makes the batter a darker brown color with a little bit of colored dots. I am going to try the bigger sprinkles for his party. On another note, I'm proud to say my son HATES frosting! haha. We gave him a cupcake with cream cheese frosting with a blue 1 on it, he stared at it for a few minutes. He stuck his finger in it and looked at me like "Mom, what the heck is this!?". In the end he ended up throwing is at us and on the ground. :( The cream cheese frosting came out good, but it was a little too thin. Next time I think less milk than directed. I can't wait to do all of his birthday cupcakes! So far im making about 40-50 of them. Woo!

Happy Day!

First try at cupcakes!

Just got done making some amazing cupcakes! So I got a regular vanilla cupcake recipe from allrecipes.com and substituted half the sugar applesauce. I added some sprinkles to make then funfetti cupcakes! Looking at the sprinkles, there really isnt very much sugar in them, so I made them fun with less sugar than regular vanilla cupcakes! I also did Vanilla cupcakes with mini semi-sweet chocolate morsels (for the adults or older children)! We are going to test out the dozen I made tonight since it is my son's actual birthday! Now on to making the frosting... ;)

Cupcakes!

So my son's birthday is right around the corner. I am thinking of cupcakes instead of cake, well because it is easier and looks better to me. I am deciding on doing vanilla funfetti cupcakes with vanilla frosting. Then I'm also going to be doing chocolate chip cupcakes with vanila frosting. I will be posting updates on testing out low sugar recipes this week and will also be trying some cookies that are made with baby cereal. Can't wait for baby boy's 1 year party this saturday!!

Sweet Potato Infant finger foods

I think making infant finger foods as less as any homemade foods very rewarding. I made my little cutie some sweet potato fries that are baked! With my lovely Rachael Ray stoneware, it makes everything easier!

1. Peel some sweet potatoes and cut into3-4 inch slices under 1/2" fries. Lay in a baking pan or cookie sheet.

 2. Mix a few tablespoons of olive oil with 1-2 teaspoons of cinnamon.
 3. Preheat the oven to 350 Degrees F
 4. Pour the olive oil and cinnamon mixture over the sweet potatoes and mix around to cover them completely.
 5. Makes for about 30-40 Minutes, depending on soft or crispier outside.
 6. Enjoy after cooling, I believe my little one loved them!

It's been months...!

I have had a lot going on, got married :)! Celebrating my son's 1st birthday soon and picking up some side jobs. I have been experimenting with recipes for my son's 1st birthday cupcakes that are healthy for the little ones. I have tried a low fat, sugar free one found online that did not work out! It was way too thick and didn't taste very appealing. The other day I tried a Banana cupcake recipe, which was okay but more of a muffin recipe. Now I'm getting discouraged, thinking of adding banana or apple to a regular low fat cupcake recipe. I did try a apple swirl round cake, but I wanted cupcakes in the first place, so I decided against it. Sigh... I will be trying one later today, so we will see about that!

On another note, I am trying to find more ways to work from home. Daycare is ridiculously expensive around my hometown and jobs are minimum wage, if you can even find one. I want the best for my son, and I think that being home with him will help him learn fast and maybe just having play dates with other infants will help him not be a selfish butthead! If anyone has some legit recommendations, let me know! Otherwise, I have been selling on Ebay stuff I find at yard sales or have had and never used. Making SOME money, but well.. them bills keep piling!

Welcome! :)

Hello everyone, I am starting this blog to get other mom's (and dad's :)) interested in saving money on baby food, infant/ toddler treats, and can also answer questions about anything baby related! In fact... I'm about to pull some delicious sweet potato fries out of the oven for my son's lunch today. :)

Muah!
